Promoting Community Service
The Mayor’s Volunteer of the Month Award recognizes MarysvilleElaine Hanson - April 2013 Volunteer of the Month
citizens for their volunteer contributions and commitments to community service. Volunteers from all areas of Marysville are eligible. The voluntary service demonstrated should be unpaid and not an employment responsibility. Volunteer service helps to conserve taxpayer dollars.

Mayor Jon Nehring, who established the recognition program, will honor volunteer award recipients at regular City Council meetings. Pictured at right with the Mayor is April 2013 recipient Elaine Hanson, Marysville Soroptimis Club Treasurer and retired longtime teacher for her leadership in educating about and bringing an end to human sex trafficking.

Do you know someone whose service and dedication to the community makes them the perfect candidate for Volunteer of the Month? The mayor wants to hear from you. Complete and return a nomination form to the Office of the Mayor:

Eligibility & Criteria 
  • Individuals may be nominated by an individual, agency, corporation or organization
  • Nominations should be made for direct service, board service or administrative volunteering
  • Nominees must be residents of Marysville 
  • The nominee will be considered based on initiative and good work achieved through volunteer service
  • The volunteer of the month nominee should be committed to making the City of Marysville a better community through voluntary personal service to its citizens to meet community needs
