2024 Comprehensive Plan Update

The City of Marysville Comprehensive Plan is a policy document that provides provides guidance for Marysville’s future growth and development over a 20 year period. The  last major update occurred in 2015.  The City is currently updating the Plan for the planning period 2024 – 2044 as required by RCW 36.70A.130(5)(a). Our community is invited to learn about, provide feedback, and communicate ideas and priorities on this update.  

The Marysville City Council and Planning Commission will be holding a joint meeting at the regularly scheduled Planning Commission meeting Monday, September 25, 2023 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.  The focus of the meeting will be to discuss growth strategies for the 2024 Comprehensive Plan update, specifically where and how to accommodate anticipated population and housing growth.  Additional information is in the Notice.

The City will be conducting short surveys during the Comprehensive Plan Update process.  We invite you to take our current survey on Economic Development which will be open through August 31st.   Your feedback will help us as we update goals and policies, and refine land use alternatives.

Project Timeline

The City of Marysville’s Comprehensive Plan update will be occurring from February 2022 through the anticipated adoption by City Council in June 2024. It should be noted that the State of Washington has extended the deadline for completion of the Comprehensive Plan to December 2024; the project schedule may be extended if needed.

Scoping is a process required by the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) that is designed to focus the scope of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) or Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) on the probable significant adverse impacts and reasonable alternatives of a land use proposal, including mitigation measures. 

Scoping is an opportunity for the City to receive comments from the public, tribes, and agencies about EIS topics and alternatives. 

The City anticipates issuing an SEIS, and issued a Scoping Notice on March 8, 2022. Comments were solicited from the public, tribes, and agencies from March 8, 2022 through April 8, 2022 and will be included with the file, and considered during the update.
