Garbage & Recycling

Notice of limited operations

To minimize the contact and handling of garbage by our sanitation drivers, we are asking residential solid waste customers to please place extra garbage bags ON TOP of your garbage can.

As of Thursday, March 26, the City of Marysville and Waste Management sanitation and recycling teams are suspending the collection of residential bulky waste (e.g., mattresses, furniture, etc.) for curbside collections. This is being done as a safety precaution; at this time we have not yet experienced any significant disruptions in essential collection services.

Snohomish County will close all of its Solid Waste facilities and programs starting Saturday, March 28. For more details about these closure visit the Snohomish County website.

The Public Works Solid Waste Division provides garbage pick-up to about 13,500 homes, hauling 1,480 tons of garbage and recycling per month, and is one of the only two cities in Snohomish County that provides citizens with service at a rate competitive with regional private solid waste companies.  Collection charges include recycling under a contractual agreement with Waste Management Northwest.

Garbage collection during inclement weather?

If snow or other events prevent safe collection of garbage or recycling, the City will collect double on the next collection day or, if circumstances permit, later in the collection week.  Please see, social media, or announcements regarding collection.  The City will collect when safe to do so, as such, there is no credit given as all materials will be collected.
