The two-block section of State Avenue roadway north of 100th Street NE will be closed from 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, for the city’s contractor to set the new bridge girders. Local access to businesses and residences will remain open.
Detour signage will direct traffic from State Avenue to 51st Avenue NE via Shoultes and 136th Streets. Please note there is no detour south of 116th Street NE! Drivers should plan for local trips to take an additional 10-15 minutes using detour routes.
When this phase is complete next year, the State Avenue roadway between 100th Street NE and 104th Place NE will have five lanes instead of three along with curb, gutter and sidewalk and street lighting to improve traffic and pedestrian safety.
Construction of the last remaining corridor from 104th Pl NE to 116th St NE is not yet funded. The city is pursuing grants and other funding to build this last segment.
