The public is invited to join the City of Marysville for the Marysville Community Center Open House on Friday, Jan. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. at 1015 State Ave. The celebration follows a renovation of the former Marysville Municipal Court building and opens Jan. 3 to the public for recreation classes, programs and rentals.
Remolded classrooms and a new dance room will be available for viewing. Recreation instructors will have demonstrations and class information available for the public to learn about upcoming programs. Cookies and coffee will be served by the City.
“The city is excited to have a new space to offer programs for our community,” said Tara Mizell, Director of Parks, Culture and Recreation. “Programs will be offered for all ages, preschool to seniors, in one location.”
The new Community Center is replacing the former Ken Baxter Community Center as the location for recreation programs in the community. The renovations in the Community Center include remodeled courtrooms which will serve as classrooms and meeting rooms. A new dance room with full length mirrors and barre bars has been added for dance and fitness classes. The Baxter room will serve as the home for art and senior programs, with a double sink for ease of cleaning supplies or filling large coffee pots for classes.
