Are there wetlands on a property I'm interested in?
The only way to know if there are wetlands on a given property is to have a wetland survey done. The city maintains a list of qualified wetland consultants. Reports from consultants on this list will be accepted by the city; reports from other consultants may be challenged. Call (360) 363-8100 to request a list of qualified wetland consultants.

Normal business hours are 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding official holidays.

Are maps for sale?

Do I need a building permit?
It depends. Any structure over 120 sq. ft. or any addition to an existing structure will require a building permit. Signs, demolitions, grading, mechanical or electrical work, and re-roofing will also require a permit.

Do I need a building permit?
Not always. Certain types of fencing, retaining walls and sheds are exempt from building permits if they meet specific conditions.
