Why get involved in Business Watch?: Let's give you a good example. Say a local criminal has hit several retail stores in the Marysville area where they have been identified as passing bad checks. The police department is aware of the situation and has a description of the fraudulent person and what checks they are using. Through the Business Watch program the police are able to pass this type of information on to the local business so that all employees are aware of what to watch for. Then, when the "bad guy" chooses to come into your store to pass the next bad check, you're a step ahead of them and they are nabbed.

3. What is needed to form a Business Watch?: Starting a Business Watch includes a few easy steps:
• Form a Planning Committee to discuss needs and list potential problems.
• Involve police for useful information, crime statistics and analysis.
• Conduct a business survey.
• Plan a Business Watch kickoff in your business corridor.
• Convene an initial meeting to identify members, name officers, gather contact information and discuss Business Watch signage.
• Build momentum and keep the dialogue going.
Marysville Police will be there to help out as you establish your group.

4. What is the Business Watch program?: Business Watch is a service of the Marysville and Tulalip Police Departments in partnership with the business community. The goal is to work with business owners to combat the types of property crimes that impact business, such as shoplifting, credit card fraud, forgery, scams, employee theft, robbery and vandalism.
