10-year-old Layla becomes MPD officer for a day with Make-A-Wish visit

Behind the Scenes Posted on May 08, 2024

A magical Make-A-Wish visit for our department and 10-year-old Layla, becoming a Marysville Police Department Officer for a day!

The day began with Layla getting fingerprinted, a tour of the department and an up-close look at the Bearcat armored vehicle. Layla had the distinguished honor of being sworn in by Mayor Jon Nehring, alongside Chief Erik Scairpon, marking the beginning of her official duties as an honorary officer.

Following the action-packed morning, Layla took a well-deserved break to enjoy a special lunch hosted by Chief Scairpon and Assistant Chief Jim Lawless. As the day progressed, Layla's bravery and determination were put to the test as she participated in real-life scenarios, including the apprehension of the notorious donut burglar!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Make-A-Wish for making Layla's dream a reality and reaffirming the bond between law enforcement and the community.
