A day on, not a day off.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of service transforms Dr. King's life and teachings into community action, reflecting his commitment to serving others and his vision of a "Beloved Community." 'A day on, not a day off' is to use the holiday as an opportunity for active citizenship and volunteerism rather than simply a day away from work or school.
